David Gray set to unveil new album, expands tour
British singer/songwriter David Gray has added a slew of new tour dates to his schedule as he anticipates the release of his new album in September.
The new leg of Gray's schedule kicks off Oct. 2 in Toronto, and the tour is now set to end with a Nov. 6 appearance in Atlanta. Gray is currently paving the way for the album's release with select U.S. performances that run through Aug. 17.
Ticket pre-sales for newly added October shows in New York and Boston begin Wednesday (8/3), and advance sales for his other new dates will follow over the coming weeks. Full information on ticket pre-sales as they become available is on Gray's website.
"Life in Slow Motion," Gray's third full-length release, is due in stores Sept. 12. The singer's last effort, 2003's multi-platinum "A New Day at Midnight," established Gray's staying power after his 2000 breakout hit single, "Please Forgive Me."
The new album marks Gray's first effort not produced by himself and his backing band. Producer Marius De Vries (Rufus Wainwright, David Bowie) was brought in to flesh out the sound.
"You know they fall into various categories, producers," Gray said in a press release. "You have the more technical ones who are very good in the studio and very good with sound, and then you get the more musical ones who like to play instruments and Marius very much fits into the latter category. It allowed me to think purely about the music, to have somebody to help me realize some things. He brought a lot more out of me."
