Joan Baez sketches out fall tour to support new LP
Iconic folksinger Joan Baez is shaping up her fall tour schedule as she prepares to support her forthcoming album, "Bowery Songs," due in stores Sept. 6.
Baez will embark on her lengthy, late-year outing with a Sept. 30 performance in Santa Cruz, CA, then hit more than 25 cities across the country before closing her tour schedule with a Dec. 7 show in Chico, CA. More dates are expected to be added later, according to her website.
"Bowery Songs" is culled from Baez's November 2004 concert at New York's Bowery Ballroom, and includes a mix of new and old material. The CD also features four previously unrecorded songs, including Bob Dylan's "Seven Curses" and Steve Earle's "Jerusalem."
Baez is supported on the new album by her recent touring band, drummer George Javori, guitarist Duke McVinnie, guitarist Erik Della Penna and bassist Graham Maby. Her most recent studio album was 2003's "Dark Chords on a Big Guitar."
