Christmas tour, CD, DVD on tap for Brian Setzer Orchestra

Following up on the success of their 2002 set "Boogie Woogie Christmas," the Brian Setzer Orchestra get back in the spirit of the season this year with the release of a new holiday album and DVD, as well as a tour.

An Oct. 18 release is set for the new Setzer album "Dig that Crazy Christmas" and the 23-song DVD "Christmas Extravaganza." The holiday tour opens Nov. 16 in Minneapolis, and runs through Dec. 23.

Among the songs on "Dig that Crazy Christmas" are "My Favorite Things," "Jingle Bell Rock," "You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch" and "Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!" The set also includes the new Setzer tracks "Hey Santa" and "Santa Drives a Hot Rod."

The DVD was filmed Dec. 18, 2004, during a sold-out gig at Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles (since renamed Gibson Amphitheater). The Setzer Orchestra's set that night spanned Setzer's entire career, including Stray Cats hits (such as "Stray Cat Strut"), BSO songs ("Jump Jive an' Wail") and holiday songs (including BSO's seven-minute rendition of "Nutcracker Suite"). The DVD's full track-listing is below.

Setzer's Christmas releases come on the heels of his recently issued album "Rockabilly Riot Vol. One - A Tribute to Sun Records," which features Setzer's takes on 23 songs recorded on the legendary Memphis label Sun by artists including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins.

While in the midst of the tour--the itinerary for which is below--Setzer will perform during the Rockefeller Center tree-lighting ceremony in New York City, to be broadcast Nov. 30 on NBC-TV.
