Ozzfest to carry on in 2006 without Ozzy Osbourne
Ozzy Osbourne announced Friday (8/12) that this year will mark the last time that he headlines his long-running namesake package tour, Ozzfest .
"After 10 years, the Ozzfest's name and reputation has been established," Osbourne said in a statement. "It's time for me to move on and do other things."
According to a press release, Ozzfest will return in 2006, but "Ozzy will limit his performances to only a few, select cities."
Ozzfest was launched for a limited run in 1996, and has since been instrumental in launching artists like System of a Down, Linkin Park, Incubus, Slipknot, Disturbed and Godsmack into stardom.
This year, Ozzfest's main stage is occupied by Black Sabbath (fronted by Osbourne), Iron Maiden, Shadows Fall and Black Label Society, with Velvet Revolver and Slipknot booked on select dates. Rob Zombie heads up the second stage.
