Montgomery Gentry saddles up for more touring
Twice sidelined by serious injury in recent months, country duo Montgomery Gentry forge ahead with a tour schedule that now stretches into the winter.
The pair has a handful of dates remaining on its summer outing, which wraps up in the Northwest early next month. A break follows before the duo returns to the road in late September for a new round of dates that are scattered into mid-December. Details are shown below.
The duo's roadtrip was temporarily derailed after Eddie Montgomery underwent wrist surgery in early May to repair extensive damage that occurred when he fell from the stage during an April 29 performance in Asheville, NC; He broke four bones in the fall, which his publicist said occurred after he stepped on an improperly secured speaker cabinet next to the stage.
Trouble cropped up again last month when a horse Troy Lee Gentry was riding "reared up, spun over and fell on its side, pinning [his] left leg," according to information posted at the pair's website. The accident left Gentry with a broken ankle and torn ligaments in his knee, the latter of which required surgery. Dr. Burton Elrod, team doctor for the Tennessee Titans football team, conducted the surgery in Nashville, and described the injury as "one of the worst he had seen in seven years of being the Titans' team doctor."
Montgomery Gentry continue to tour behind their May 2004 release, "You Do Your Thing," which features the pair's latest single "Something to Be Proud Of."
