Lawyers representing masked metal purveyors Slipknot have sent a cease-and-desist letter to Burger King, alleging that the fast-food chain's new television ad campaign infringes on the band's trademark look.
In the ads, a masked band dubbed Coq Roq sings head-banging odes to BK's new chicken strips.
The cease-and-desist letter, posted at The Smoking Gun website, reads, "It is obvious that the television advertising and Website are designed to conjure up the image and persona of a live performance of Slipknot," adding that, the Coq Roq characters in the ad sport masks that include "a gas mask as worn by Slipknot's Sid Wilson, a kabuki-style mask as worn by Slipknot's Joey Jordison, and a mask with dreads as worn by Slipknot's Cory Taylor."
Burger King, in turn, filed a federal suit this month against Slipknot, asking a U.S. District Court to clear the campaign.
John Legend has issued a duet remix of his song "So High" that features vocals by Lauryn Hill . It marks Hill's first recorded appearance since 2002's MTV Unplugged 2.0.
"I'm really excited to have Ms. Hill on the track," Legend said in a press release. "She's truly a genius. The first time I ever appeared on a major album was when I played piano on 'Everything is Everything' from 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.' I have been wanting to work with her again ever since. It's great to see that wish finally come true."
The song was sent to radio over the weekend.
Floetry 's third album, "Flo'Ology," is set to hit stores Nov. 8, according to Geffen Records. The album's first single, "SupaStar," features Common.
