Cold returns with new album, tour
Cold will launch the jaunt with an in-store signing Aug. 30 in Jacksonville, FL, and will play a mix of festivals and club shows before hooking up with Smile Empty Soul on Sept. 20 in Springfield, IL. The details are listed below.
Formed in Jacksonville, FL, in the late 1990s, Cold--vocalist Scooter Ward, guitarist Matt Loughran, bassist Jeremy Marshall and drummer Sam McCandless--will release its fourth album, "A Different Kind of Pain," Aug. 30. The first single, "Happens All the Time," is currently getting airplay on many rock and alternative radio stations.
SoCal rockers Smile Empty Soul--vocalist/lyricist Sean Danielsen, bassist Ryan Martin and drummer Dominic Weir--will send to stores Sept. 27 their sophomore release, "Anxiety." The collection was produced by John Lewis Parker at Suburban Hell studios near the band's hometown of Santa Clarita, CA.
According to a press release, the band's first single was slated to be "Holes," but the "religious right boycotted the track." It includes the lyrics "All these people think they know what's missing from my show / Just admit that Jesus died for me / Well take your Bibles and go home."
Smile Empty Soul's self-titled debut sold more than 500,000 copies, and spawned the hits "Bottom of a Bottle," "Nowhere Kids" and "Silhouettes."
