North American cities brace for Avenged Sevenfold
California metal band Avenged Sevenfold is embarking on a 33-date North American tour in support of its breakthrough album, "City of Evil."
The Warped Tour veterans will visit mid-sized clubs Oct. 7 through Dec. 2 with fellow rockers Saosin and Death by Stereo in tow. Opiate for the Masses and Bullets & Octane will rotate through the remaining opening slot; details are listed below.
Avenged Sevenfold --vocalist M. Shadows, lead guitarist Synyster Gates, guitarist Zachy Vengeance, bassist Johnny Christ and drummer The Rev--released "City of Evil" in June. The set was produced by Mudrock, who also worked on the band's previous album, 2003's "Waking the Fallen."
The video for the "City of Evil" single "Bat Country" is in rotation on the music cable channel Fuse, and the song "Beast and the Harlot" will also appear on the soundtrack of EA's video game "Burnout Revenge," which hits stores Sept. 20.
Saosin --vocalist Cove Reber, guitarists/vocalists Beau Burchell and Justin Shekoski, bassist Chris Sorenson and drummer Alex Rodriguez--is working on an album to be released in early 2006, according to its MySpace page.
Fresh off a tour with Pennywise, Death by Stereo is pushing its album "Death for Life."
Bullets & Octane spent the summer mixing its new effort--set to hit stores next year--with Ken Andrews.
Arizona-based Opiate for the Masses is one of the first bands signed to WarCon records, a new label co-founded by Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman. The act is supporting its album "The Spore," which spawned the single "Drown."
