Olivia Newton-John heads to the U.S. for fall tour
Australian singer Olivia Newton-John will journey to the United States this fall for a theater tour that backs her latest album, "Stronger Than Before."
The outing kicks off in early October, and will touch down in 17 cities by late November. Details are included below.
Newton-John, a 13-year breast-cancer survivor, released "Stronger Than Before" exclusively through Hallmark. The company will donate two dollars from each sale of the album to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, according to a press release.
While recording the album, which houses 10 new tracks, Newton-John collaborated with Patti LaBelle, Diahann Carroll, Beth Neilson Chapman, Amy Holland and Amy Sky.
"I am looking forward to connecting with my fans who have been extremely supportive of me throughout my career, during both good times and bad," Newton-John said in a statement. "I am particularly eager to bring music from 'Stronger Than Before' to the stage. This new CD is about getting through tough times and certainly this music is needed now, more than ever."
Best known for her string of '70s- and '80s-era hits--such as "I Honestly Love You," "Have You Never Been Mellow" and "Physical"--as well as her role in the movie version (and soundtrack) of the musical "Grease," Newton-John's commercial popularity in the U.S. has waned over the years; "Stronger Than Before" marks her first new set of original material released in the U.S. since 1998's "Back with a Heart."
In her homeland, however, Newton-John's recording career continues to flourish. Last year, she released in Australia a new set titled "Indigo: Women of Song," which followed 2003's "2."
