Trace Adkins released from hospital

UPDATED: Country star Trace Adkins was released from the hospital Tuesday (Sept. 20) after undergoing emergency surgery for an abdominal inflammatory infection last week.

Adkins' doctors say the procedure was a success and are expecting a full recovery with no post-operative complications, according to a press release. The singer is in good condition and resting at home.

Adkins was admitted to a local hospital following a performance at Jackpot Junction Casino in Morton, MN, on Sept. 16. He had been experiencing pain for two days prior and had gone to the hospital seeking treatment before heading to Spencer, IA, for a Sept. 17 performance.

In the wake of his surgery, the vocalist scratched the aforementioned Iowa show, as well as his Sept. 18 show in Hutchison, KS. He has further canceled all performances through Sept. 27, including dates in Ashland, OH; Centerville, MI; and Bloomsburg, PA. The list of shows that are still currently scheduled to take place, according to the artist's website, appears below.

Adkins' most recent CD is "Songs About Me," which sold almost 63,000 copies during its first week in stores back in March, enough to earn it a No. 1 debut on Billboard's Country Albums chart. "Songs About Me" has already produced two hit singles, and the third single, "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk," is scheduled to hit radio on September Sept. 26.
