Barenaked Ladies unveil late-year concert dates
Barenaked Ladies are set to roll out a brief North American tour just in time for the holidays, an event that has become something of a habit for the venerable band.
The Canadian pop/rock quintet will get things going with a Nov. 21 show in Montreal before setting off on the rest of its month-long trek, culminating in a series of shows back in their home country just before Christmas.
Last year, the Ladies toured late in the year on the heels of "Barenaked for the Holidays," a 20-track set that featured the band's interpretation of traditional holiday classics, along with several original numbers.
The band spent time this summer working on a variety of odds and ends, including providing the musical score for the Stratford Festival of Canada's staging of William Shakespeare's "As You Like It." "It's been a long time in the works for us--we recorded the backing tracks at my place in February and we've been involved in rehearsals ever since," Ladies' frontman Steven Page said on the band's website.
In addition to appearing with his band at the July 2 Toronto segment of the Live 8 series of concerts to raise awareness of African poverty, Page teamed with singer Steven Duffy (of Steven Duffy & the Lilac Time) to produce "The Vanity Project" album, which hit stores in June.
Barenaked Ladies last full studio release was 2003's "Everything to Everyone."
