John Prine back on the road for new album
Singer/songwriter John Prine has added new concert dates to his current tour, taking his act on the road well into December.
Prine's tour bus will make a stop Friday (9/30) in Memphis as he continues to back his first album of new material in almost a decade, "Fair and Square," which hit stores in April.
After a brief run of shows in Europe during November (details of which can be found on Prine's website,) the performer will return to these shores for a 12/14 appearance in Jacksonville, FL, the first of four scheduled shows in Florida.
"Fair and Square" was Prine's first release since 1995's Grammy-nominated "Lost Dogs & Mixed Blessings." He was named Artist of the Year at the Sept. 9 Americana Music Awards in Nashville.
"It was just time," Prine said of "Fair and Square" in a press release. "I had a bunch of songs. I'd started recording 'em, and it turns out, I liked 'em pretty well. So, now, I get to get 'em all just the way I like 'em--and then I get to let 'em go out to meet the world."
