50 Cent readies new album to accompany film debut
Chart-topping rapper 50 Cent is putting the finishing touches on the soundtrack to his forthcoming big-screen debut, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'."
Dubbed "Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture Get Rich or Die Tryin'," the album is due in stores Nov. 8, and features all-new tracks from 50 Cent "and the entire stable of artists on his G Unit Records Imprint," according to a press release.
"I created the music for the soundtrack while I was actually filming the movie," 50 said in a statement. "I had a studio trailer with me and would record every day between takes. I keep telling you, I'm the hardest working man alive."
Included on the disc is the single "Window Shopper," which Interscope Records describes as "a track that exposes the mentality of a rapper who can't afford to buy the things he wants and feels he deserves," and which "serves as a focal point for some of the movie's most poignant scenes."
50 Cent produced the album, Sha Money XL was the co-executive producer, and Dr. Dre and Hi-Tek provided further production. Mase, Nate Dogg and newly signed G Unit members Mobb Deep and M.O.P. are also featured on the set.
On Nov. 9, the day after the soundtrack hits stores, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'"--which shares its name with 50's multi-platinum debut album--arrives in theaters. Jim Sheridan ("In America," "My Left Foot") directed the flick.
