Ozzy Osbourne readies all-covers album

Grizzled rocker Ozzy Osbourne will deliver his versions of 13 of his favorite songs on the forthcoming album "Under Cover," due Nov. 1.

Osbourne covers acts including The Beatles, King Crimson, The Rolling Stones and Cream on the set, which was produced by Mark Hudson. Osbourne's backing band included Mike Bordin (drums), Jerry Cantrell (guitars) and Chris Wyse (bass), as well as guest musicians Ian Hunter (vocals on "All The Young Dudes"), Leslie West (guitar solo on "Mississippi Queen") and Robert Randolph (pedal steel on "Symphony for the Devil," guitar solo on "21st Century Schizoid Man").

The album will be released in DualDisc format, with the DVD side of the disc housing the video of Osbourne's cover of The Beatles' "In My Life," as well as archival footage spanning Osbourne's career.

Rounding out the DVD side is the half-hour program "Dinner with Ozzy and Friends," in which Ozzy "tells some of his favorite stories to guests who include son Jack Osbourne and Motorhead's Lemmy Kilmister," according to a press release. "In addition, there are classic moments showing Ozzy's repeated attempts to light Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward's beard on fire and his encounter with a group of nuns at an airport."
