Rolling Stones concert interrupted by bomb search
The Rolling Stones were forced to temporarily halt their Thursday night (10/6) performance in Charlottesville, VA, so that authorities could investigate a bomb threat.
The Charlottesville Daily Progress reported that the show was stopped, and about a third of the University of Virginia's 61,000-seat Scott Stadium was cleared, as bomb-sniffing dogs searched the area around the stage.
The performance reportedly resumed about an hour after Stones frontman Mick Jagger told the crowd that there would be a 10-minute intermission due to a "technical problem."
A concert promoter told the newspaper that the bomb threat was phoned in. The audience reportedly wasn't told the reason the show was halted, and police had no immediate comment.
The Stones' "A Bigger Band" tour is scheduled to resume Saturday (10/8) in Durham, NC.
