Depeche Mode adds more shows, plans in-store appearance
Depeche Mode , whose new album lands in stores next week, will launch the set with a release-day appearance in New York City, and have filled some blanks in their upcoming tour schedule.
The group will mark Tuesday's (10/18) release of "Playing the Angel," the first new Depeche Mode studio set since 2001's "Exciter," with a 7 p.m. in-store appearance at Tower Records (located at 4th and Broadway), during which the band--singer David Gahan, chief songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Martin Gore and keyboardist Andrew Fletcher--will sign copies of the album. Details about how to gain entry to the event are posted at the group's website.
On Nov. 2, Depeche Mode will launch its world tour in support of "Playing the Angel" with a North American leg that stretches through early December. The itinerary for that outing now includes stops in Anaheim, CA; and Montreal, Quebec. Tickets for the Anaheim show hit the box office on Saturday (10/15), while those for the Montreal show--as well as those for a previously announced Toronto stop--go on sale on Monday (10/17).
Tickets for the rest of the outing are on sale now, and strong demand has led to the addition of a second show in both Los Angeles and New York City. Details are included in the itinerary below.
The group will warm up for the outing with a club gig in New York City. The event, dubbed "Starting the Angel," will be a "small private club show for contest winners," according to information posted at the band's website. Contest details will be announced "shortly."
Depeche Mode recorded "Playing the Angel" in Santa Barbara, CA; New York; and London with producer Ben Hiller (Doves, Blur). The set includes the lead-off single "Precious."
