Pink Floyd Preparing 2-CD Set Of First "Wall" Shows

On Dec. 1., EMI Records will release Pink Floyd 's "Is There Anybody Out There? The Wall Live," a two-CD set which draws from "The Wall" shows that the band performed in 1980-81 in London, New York, Los Angeles and Dortmund, Germany. The London shows were recorded on a 48-track mobile studio, and EMI promises a high-quality result. The label hasn't finalized what cuts will appear, but the bound set will include new artwork from Floyd designer Storm Thorgerson.

Just as the original 1979 album ''The Wall'' led to the popular movie about a rock star and his totalitarian delusions, the release of the live ''Wall'' album will be followed by a Columbia Records DVD release of the film. Fans will have to wait a little longer on this one: the release date was just pushed ahead from Dec. 7 to Dec. 14.

The DVD release includes a 25-minute documentary about how the film was made and a 45-minute documentary of interviews with former Floyd leader Roger Waters , animator Gerald Scarfe, Floyd producer James Guthrie and others.

Waters is expected to release his French/English opera ''Ca Ira'' next year, though Columbia Records hasn't set an exact date. Waters has been working on the project for some seven years, taking a break earlier this year to tour the eastern U.S. He will probably undertake a complete U.S. tour next spring or summer, said a source close to the tour. Unlike the '99 tour, West Coast cities will be on the roster.
