U2's Bono lunches with President Bush

U2 frontman Bono and President George W. Bush had lunch together Wednesday (10/19) in the White House.

According to published reports, the singer/activist spent more than 90 minutes dining and speaking with the president.

"They had a very good discussion about some of our common priorities," the president's spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters. "Both share a deep commitment to combating AIDS, preventing malaria and expanding trade to lift people out of poverty."

Bono--who was also scheduled to meet with National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley--was in Washington, DC, to perform a concert with his band at the MCI Center.
