The Blasters fire up fall tour

Roots-rock fans will rejoice as The Blasters [ tickets ] continue to rocket through North America on their fall tour.

Using the West Coast as their launching pad, The Blasters will first perform seven October shows in California, and then spend much of November touring the Midwest and Northeast. The tour winds up at Denver's Bluebird Theatre on Dec. 10.

The band's current lineup consists of singer/guitarist Phil Alvin, bassist John Bazz, guitarist Keith Wyatt and drummer Jerry Angel. That's the group of musicians responsible for The Blasters' latest studio record, the long-overdue "4-11-44," which was released in 2004. The Blasters' previous studio effort was 1985's "Hard Line."

Dave Alvin, Phil's brother and original Blaster, has his own tour cooked up. The singer/guitarist will lead his Guilty Men group in a short trek through California clubs in late October.
