Cyndi Lauper gears up for album release, more shows

Cyndi Lauper , who late last month unveiled plans for a handful of late-fall concerts, has now strung together a more formidable itinerary that supports her soon-to-be-released acoustic album.

Titled "The Body Acoustic," the set his stores Nov. 8. Lauper's website describes the album as a retrospective containing unplugged rendition of nine previously released songs, plus two new songs. The DualDisc-formatted collection will also include video footage.

The same day the album surfaces, Lauper will launch her roadtrip with a performance at the New York Society for Ethical Culture, and from there heads to Atlantic City, NJ, to participate at VH1 Classic's "Decades Rock Live" event, which will also feature Scott Weiland of Velvet Revolver, Pat Monahan of Train, Ani DiFranco, Shaggy and The Hooters.

Lauper then returns to the road in late November for a series of North American shows that focus on the East Coast and run through mid-December. Details are included below.

Last year, Lauper served up the concert DVD "Live ... At Last." Filmed during her March 11, 2004 performance in New York City, the disc features a number of her '80-era hits--such as "True Colors," "She Bop," "Time After Time" and "Girls Just Want to Have Fun"--as well as material from her most recent studio set, "At Last."

Released in 2003, "At Last" features Lauper's renditions of classic hits including The Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody," Burt Bacharach and Hal David's "Walk on By," Smokey Robinson's "You Really Got a Hold On Me," and the title track, originally made famous by Etta James.

Special guests on "At Last" include Tony Bennett on "Makin' Whoopie," and Stevie Wonder, who plays harmonica on "Until You Come Back to Me," a track he once recorded himself.
