Briefly: John Lennon, KISS, Bee Gees, Linda Ronstadt
John Lennon 's entire solo catalog will be available digitally by December, according to Capitol Records.
The first legal download will be the two-disc, best-of set "Working Class Hero," which will be sold via many online stores beginning Nov. 7. (The CD version of the album was released in October.) All of Lennon's solo albums will be made available digitally in the U.S. on Dec. 6 (Dec. 5 overseas).
"I am very happy that John's music is now available to a new generation of music fans," Yoko Ono said in a press release. "New technology is something he always embraced and this is something he would have loved. I always say that he would have been very excited by all the opportunities offered by the development of new means of communication. At this time I think it's important that we remember John for what he contributed to the world. For people who still love John's music and for those now getting into John's music, this opens up a whole new world in which they can appreciate John's music again."
" KISS Rock the Nation Live," a two-disc DVD set filmed in high-definition during the group's 2004 tour, is scheduled for release Dec. 13.
"Love Songs," a collection of 18 newly remastered hits by Rock and Roll Hall of Famers the Bee Gees that were released from 1967 through 2001, hits stores Nov. 22.
Among the tracks that appear on the album are "To Love Somebody," "Words," "Lonely Days," "How Deep is Your Love," "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" and "More than a Woman."
A Jan. 28 release date has been set for the new two disc, 47-track compilation "The Best of Linda Ronstadt : The Capitol Years."
The set compiles all of the tracks from Ronstadt's four albums released by Capitol Records from 1969 to 1974--"Hand Sown ... Home Grown," "Silk Purse," "Linda Ronstadt" and "Heart Like a Wheel"--as well as five previously unreleased studio recordings and concert performances.
