Lil Wayne works the road behind new album
Cash Money rapper Lil Wayne will back his forthcoming album, "Tha Carter II," with a U.S. tour that kicks off next week.
The trek--which will also feature hip-hop artists T.I. and Young Jeezy--launches Nov. 17 in Chicago and is currently scheduled to run into mid-December. Details are shown below.
In the midst of the run, Cash Money will drop "Tha Carter II," which follows last year's "Tha Carter." The new release, which arrives in stores Dec. 6, will be offered in a deluxe package that will house the new disc, as well as a collection of Lil Wayne 's "biggest chopped & screwed hits," according to a press release, including "Go DJ," "Tha Block Is Hot," "Get Off the Corner" and "500 Degreez."
The bonus disc will also feature a retooled version of the current hit single "Fireman," the original version of which Lil Wayne is scheduled to perform at this year's Vibe Awards. The ceremony is scheduled to air Nov. 15 on UPN.
A New Orleans native, Lil Wayne broke into the music scene at age 12 when he made his debut on former labelmate B.G.'s "True Story." He went on to become a member of rap group Hot Boys, and broke out as a solo artist with his 1999 debut, "Tha Block is Hot."
