Decemberists' Colin Meloy to mount brief solo tour
Colin Meloy, guitarist and lead singer of The Decemberists , will hit U.S. stages for a short solo tour in January.
Meloy's 10-day run will kick off Jan. 18 in Seattle and hit major cities throughout the country before winding up Jan. 28 in Alexandria, VA. Tickets for all shows go on sale Saturday (11/12).
Meloy's Decemberists are currently gearing up for a number of appearances in Europe. The band's full European itinerary can be found at its website.
The Decemberists' most recent album, "Picaresque," was released in March. The set was recorded last year inside of an old church in PortlandOR.
"On the surface it could be seen as somewhat ambitious," related Meloy in a press release. "I mean, in rock mythology, you have Led Zeppelin recording in castles and other such tales? But there is a really nice simplicity to just setting up in the chapel of a church. It feels less clinical and time-constrained than a formal studio."
