Briefly: KROQ Christmas, 50 Cent, Barry Manilow, Brooks & Dunn
The lineup for Los Angeles alt-rock radio station KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas--set for Dec. 11 at Gibson Amphitheatre--will feature System of a Down, Depeche Mode , Korn, Coldplay, Nine Inch Nail, The White Stripes and more.
Tickets for the show--which will also include sets by Jack Johnson, The Bravery, Death Cab for Cutie, Hot Hot Heat, Nada Surf and more--will hit the market Friday (11/18) at 6 p.m. PT on Friday.
50 Cent is expected to launch a new line of hip-hop novellas and graphic novels in 2007 that feature members of his G-Unit crew, according to Pocket/MTV Books.
"These tales will tell the truth about The Life; the sex, guns and cash; the brutal highs and short lives of the players on the streets," said a press release from the publisher.
Barry Manilow has returned to Clive Davis' Arista Records after a five-year respite to release "The Greatest Songs of the Fifties," due in stores Jan. 31.
Among the songs Manilow covers on the 13-track album are The Four Lads' "Moments to Remember," The Everly Brothers' "All I Have to Do is Dream," Bobby Darin's "Beyond the Sea" and Johnny Mathis' "It's Not for Me to Say."
The set will be available as a CD and as a DualDisc release featuring behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the album.
Country duo Brooks & Dunn , hyping the night's CMA Awards ceremony in New York City, rang the New York Stock Exchange's opening bell on Tuesday (11/15).
