System of a Down celebrates the Nov. 22 release of "Hypnotize," the band's second album this year, by making a 6 p.m. ET in-store appearance on that date at the Virgin Megastore in New York City's Times Square.
The band will follow that appearance an evening performance at New York's Webster Hall that will be filmed for MTV2's "$2 Bill" series. The show will air Dec. 9 on MTV2.com and the broadband site MTV Overdrive, and will air Dec. 16 on MTV2.
Belle & Sebastian release a new album titled "The Life Pursuit" on Feb. 7 (a day earlier in Europe). The set was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Tony Hoffer (Beck, Fischerspooner).
"Singles," a two-disc, best-of set from New Order , is due in stores Dec. 6. In addition to hits from throughout the band's quarter-century career, it includes remixes by The Secret Machines and producer Rich Costley.
Vietnamese authorities reportedly are seeking British rock star Gary Glitter , 61, to "clarify the relationship between this gentleman and a Vietnamese juvenile," a Foreign Ministry spokesperson told the Associated Press. Authorities reportedly have interviewed a 15-year-old girl they found in a home Glitter was renting, and are seeking evidence of sexual child abuse.
Glitter was convicted in 1999 of possessing child pornography, and served a two-month jail sentence.
