Willie Nelson begins mapping 2006 roadwork
Country veteran Willie Nelson seems poised to spend next year the same way he has spent every year for decades: riding his tour bus from show to show.
Nelson's 2006 tour schedule is currently scheduled to kick off in late January, and primarily comprises a handful of California and Florida shows that are scattered through early March. Details are included below.
In addition to touring almost non-stop, Nelson remains a prolific recording artist. His most recent collection is his July release, "Countryman," which was produced by Don Was (The Rolling Stones) and Richard Feldman. The set, more than a decade in the making, is a reggae/country album that includes a mix of reggae covers and Nelson originals.
On top of touring and offering up "Countryman," Nelson stayed busy in 2005 with the late-September opening of Willie's Place, an 850-seat concert hall located at Carl's Corner, a famous truck stop just south of Dallas on highway I-35.
Carl's Corner is also the site where, back in July, Nelson unveiled BioWillie, which is described in a press release as a "blend of B-20 Biodiesel fuel that's made from vegetable oils and reduces carbon monoxide."
"I want to use Carl's Corner as an example," Nelson said in a statement. "It's a perfect place on the highway to play a little music and show people how well Biodiesel works at the same. I want Texas to lead the world in Biodiesel exploration like we once did in oil and gas."
