More Billy Joel tour dates surface
Tickets continue to sell out and dates continue to trickle in for hitmaker Billy Joel 's 2006 tour, which marks his first major solo outing since 1999.
New to Joel's itinerary is another show at New York City's Madison Square Garden--bringing his upcoming stand there to five nights spread across late January and early February--and an April 5 engagement in Los Angeles, which is the first and, so far, only California date on Joel's tour route. Details are shown below.
Joel's winter tour marks his first major solo outing since his 1998-99 trek, during which he played for 1.1 million fans over the course of 64 shows, and grossed $47 million, according to a press release.
Since that outing, his major concert appearances have mostly been co-headlining dates with fellow singer/pianist Elton John. The two last toured together in 2003, and grossed $46 million from just 24 shows.
Joel's upcoming roadwork ostensibly supports the recently released "My Lives," a four-CD collection that chronicles his career "from his early '60s Long Island bar bands through his biggest hits to his most recent classical compositions," according to a press release. The set clocks in at more than five hours, and includes demos, live cuts, alternate takes, covers and more.
