Martina McBride's 2006 tour reaches into May

Country star Martina McBride , who returns to the road in force next year after scaling back her tour schedule in 2005, is now scheduled to play more than three-dozen concerts between January and May.

McBride, who announced the bulk of her tour plans in November, has since filled in some gaps in her schedule, and also announced a stretch of late-April and early May dates. Tickets for most shows are on sale now, but additional on-sales will get underway in the coming weeks. Details are in the itinerary below.

According to a press release, fans can expect a two-hour-plus show spotlighting McBride's hits, as well as some of the country standards she recorded for her latest album, "Timeless."
McBride took an extended break from the road during 2004 and 2005 to work on "Timeless" and to spend time with her family. She gave birth to her third daughter in June.

"Timeless," which sold about 185,000 copies during its first week in stores, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Country Albums chart, and No. 3 on The Billboard 200 chart. The album sets several milestones for McBride: it's her third consecutive No. 1 debut on the Country Albums chart, her highest placement on The Billboard 200, and a single-week sales record.

The album features McBride's take on country hits made famous by artists such as Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn, among others.

On Thursday (12/8), McBride and fellow country singers LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood will perform at a Detroit-area show to raise funds for victims of this year's hurricanes. Dubbed "Country Cares," the show will take place Dec. 8 at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan. Net proceeds from the show will benefit Habitat for Humanity and its efforts to help Gulf Coast communities damaged by this fall's hurricanes, according to organizers.
