New Releases, Dec. 13: Bo Bice, Anthony Hamilton, 'High School Reunion'
Plus: Disturbing Tha Peace, Daddy Yankee , more.
Bo Bice
"The Real Thing"
(RCA)
Bo Bice is the latest contestant from "American Idol" to attempt to make the transition from small-screen crooner to major-league pop star. The Alabama-born singer, who came in second to champ Carrie Underwood on last year's "American Idol," is set to drop his debut solo CD, "The Real Thing."
Past "American Idol" favorites have all done well, at least initially, on the charts. Kelly Clarkson (season one's champ), Ruben Studdard (season two's winner) and Clay Aiken (season two's runner-up) all watched as their first CDs debuted at number one on the pop charts. Fantasia (season three's champ) saw her CD, "Free Yourself," enter the Billboard charts at number eight, while Underwood's "Some Hearts" recently debuted at number one on the country charts.
Anthony Hamilton
"Ain't Nobody Worrin'"
(Arista)
Grammy-nominated soul-singer Anthony Hamilton returns with his fifth studio effort. The CD's first single is "Can't Let Go," which is described on the artist's website as "a love story from the man's perspective." The vocalist, who has backed such artists as Tupac Shakur, is already busy supporting the release, and recently performed "Can't Let Go" on "Live with Regis & Kelly."

"High School Reunion"
(American Laundromat/Face Down)
Nostalgia for the '80s runs mighty thick these days. The latest respectful nod to that decade comes in the form of "High School Reunion," a musical tribute to the teen flicks of the '80s. It's a 20-song compilation featuring such indie artists as Matthew Sweet, The Caulfield Sisters and Dresden Dolls covering tracks from such films as "Pretty in Pink," "The Breakfast Club," "Pump Up The Volume," "Say Anything" and "Valley Girl." Of special note are the covers done by Frank Black and Kristin Hersh, who respectively led the Pixies and the Throwing Muses--two of the most influential bands to get their starts in the '80s.
Disturbing Tha Peace
"Ludacris Presents Disturbing Tha Peace"
(Def Jam)
The "Hotlanta"-based sextet Disturbing Tha Peace returns with its follow-up to its 2003-debut, "Golden Grain." The hip-hop ensembleLil' Fate, Tity Boi, Shawnna, I-20 and Jay Cee are best known as proteges of multi-platinum rapper Ludacris. On this sophomore effort, the group is joined by Ludacris, as well as other big-name contributors like Jamie Foxx, Redman and Trick Daddy.
