Yellowcard deals more dates as singer recuperates

Yellowcard has added a number of shows to its winter club tour, which kicks off just a few days before the late-January release of the group's new album, "Lights and Sounds."

New to the group's schedule are February stops in Albuquerque; the Phoenix area, Hollywood, San Francisco and Las Vegas. Details are shown below.

Five days after the tour's Jan. 19 kick off in Minneapolis, Yellowcard offers up "Lights and Sounds," which follows 2003's double-platinum "Ocean Avenue." The new disc features the hit-single title track, which is streaming at Yellowcard's website.

Yellowcard was originally scheduled to spend part of December mounting a European tour, but had to push back those plans until next March so that vocalist/guitarist Ryan Key can tend to a throat problem.

"For the past month, I've had something going on with my throat and I finally got a couple of days off and was able to see my doctor," Key wrote in a recent posting at the band's website. "Turns out I have what they call a nodule on my vocal chords. That's about the worst news you can get. If we don't take care of it now there is a serious risk of surgery, which could put us out of commission for quite some time."

Last month, Yellowcard confirmed long-swirling rumors that founding guitarist Ben Harper's relationship with the other band members had soured, and that he had left the group to devote more time to his indie label, Takeover Records, and related projects.

The group has since tapped former Staring Back guitarist Ryan Mendez to take over for Harper. Drummer Longineu Parsons rounds out the band's lineup.
