Briefly: Bob Dylan, David Gilmour, Jeff and Tim Buckley, Audioslave
Folk-rock icon Bob Dylan has cut a deal with XM Satellite Radio to host a weekly show.
"Songs and music have always inspired me. A lot of my own songs have been played on the radio, but this is the first time I've ever been on the other side of the mic," Dylan said in a statement. "It'll be as exciting for me as it is for XM."
The hour-long show will feature "an eclectic mix of music hand-selected by Dylan," according to a press release, as well as Dylan's commentary on music and other topics, interviews with special guests and responses to email from XM subscribers.
The show will debut next March on XM's album-rock channel Deep Tracks (XM Channel 40), according to the company.
Pink Floyd singer/guitarist David Gilmour plans to mount his first solo tour in years following the March 6 release of a new album titled "On an Island," according to a Reuters report. The outing will begin with a European leg that launches March 10 in Germany, and is expected to hit North America in April, according to the report.
Rykodisc has announced a Jan. 31 release date for "Dream Brother: The Songs of Jeff & Tim Buckley ." The tribute to the father-and-son duo will feature performances from The Magic Numbers, Sufjan Stevens, Engineers, Adem Creosote and others.
Tim Buckley died of a heroin overdose in 1975. Jeff, his son, drowned in the Mississippi River in 1997.
Audioslave drummer Brad Wilk married his girlfriend of 10 years, Selene Vigil--singer of rock band Seven Year Bitch--on Saturday (12/10) during an "intimate wedding" at Emerald Bay in Lake Tahoe, according to an Interscope Records press release.
