Willie Nelson's 2006 schedule stretches into May
Country legend Willie Nelson continues to map out his travels for the New Year, with concert dates now scheduled well into the spring.
Most of the newly announced shows, which augment his previously announced West Coast schedule, focus on the southeastern U.S. and Eastern Canada, including the Maritimes.
The final show on Nelson's 2005 itinerary is a Dec. 17 benefit gig with folk artist Arlo Guthrie at Tipitina's Downtown in New Orleans. Proceeds from the sold-out performance will be earmarked to buy instruments and professional music gear for New Orleans musicians. He's currently scheduled to launch his 2006 trek Jan. 20 in Nice, CA.
In addition to touring almost non-stop, Nelson remains a prolific recording artist. His most recent collection is his July release, "Countryman," which was produced by Don Was (The Rolling Stones) and Richard Feldman. The set, more than a decade in the making, is a reggae/country album that includes a mix of reggae covers and Nelson originals.
In late September, Nelson opened Willie's Place, an 850-seat concert hall located at Carl's Corner, a famous truck stop just south of Dallas on highway I-35.
