Take Action tour unveils first round of 2006 dates
The punk- and hardcore-oriented Take Action tour is set to roll again in 2006 with a lineup of bands that includes Matchbook Romance , Silverstein and The Early November .
The sixth edition of the tour, which primarily benefits the cause of suicide prevention and the National Hopeline Network, kicks off March 1 in Baltimore and will eventually hit 22 cities during its first leg of dates. More shows are expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks, which should ultimately stretch the tour through April bring the number of tour stops to more than 40.
Other bands currently lined up for the trek are Amber Pacific , Chlodos, Hit the Lights, I Am Ghost, Paramore, Roses are Red and We are the Fury.
The main sponsor of the outing, Hopeless/Sub City Records, annually releases a live compilation of highlights from each edition of the tour. "Take Action! Compilation, Volume 5," set to be released Feb. 21, features 45 tracks on two CDs and will contain rare and unreleased songs from several bands, including Lagwagon, Panic! At the Disco and Sugarcult.
Five percent of the suggested retail price for each Take Action CD sold and 10 percent of the gross door receipts from each Take Action Tour show are donated to the Kristin Brooks Hope Center, operators of The Youth America Hotline (1-877-YOUTHLINE and 1-800-SUICIDE).
Over the past four years, Sub City Records and Take Action have raised over $220,000 for the Kristin Brooks Hope Center, according to a press release.
Matchbook Romance is set to release its second full-length album, "Voices," on Feb. 14. The band recently completed a tour of Australia.
Silverstein will complete a European tour in January and February before hopping on the Take Action bus. The band released its second studio album, "Discovering the Waterfront," in August.
