Alison Krauss & Union Station set up more roadwork
With their next round of tour dates set to launch this weekend, Grammy-nominated bluegrass act Alison Krauss & Union Station have begun rolling out new shows.
So far, the group has made plans to follow its currently scheduled January concerts in the South with a handful of March performances, most of which are set in the West. Details are included below.
The March dates are the latest installment in Krauss's ongoing Cracker Barrel-sponsored tour, which kicked off last summer. To tie in with its sponsorship, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store last May began selling "Home on the Highways," a collection of previously released Alison Krauss & Union Station material. The company moved more than 125,000 copies of the set during its first eight weeks of release, according to a press release.
"Home on the Highways"--which also features more than eight minutes of behind-the-scenes bonus video footage, according to a press release--is available exclusively at Cracker Barrel restaurants and via the company's website.
Meanwhile, Krauss and company's latest collection of new material, 2004's "Lonely Runs Both Ways," recently earned them Grammy nominations for Best Country Album, Best Country Performance by a Group or Duo ("Restless") and Best Country Instrumental Performance ("Unionhouse Branch"). Winners will be announced Feb. 8 during the 48th Annual Grammy Award ceremony, which will take place at Los Angeles' Staples Center, and will air live on CBS-TV.
