Briefly: Snoop Dogg, 3 Doors Down, Frankie J, Kem, 'NOW #1's'
Snoop is booked to perform Friday, Feb. 3, and 3 Doors Down is slated for Saturday, Feb. 4, at Club 1620, "a special climate-controlled environment created for Bud Bowl 2006" that will be located on the field inside of Tiger Stadium, according to a press release.
Passes to the invitation-only events will be handed out during Budweiser promotions at Detroit-area bars, clubs and restaurants, and will also be issued via radio station giveaways.
Columbia Records has announced an April 4 release for "Un Nuevo Dia," a Spanish-language album from R&B/pop singer Frankie J . The set follows Frankie's 2005 English-language collection, "The One," which the RIAA last month certified platinum, signifying U.S. shipment of 1 million copies.
Frankie will mount a spring tour in support of "Un Nuevo Dia" before heading back into the studio to record his next English-language album, which is due out in the fall, according to Columbia.
R&B singer and Detroit native Kem is scheduled to give a headlining performance at Motown's Winter Blast, part of the festivities surrounding the 40th Super Bowl. Details about the event, which kicks off Feb. 2 and runs through Feb. 5, are available at the Motown Winter Blast website.
Universal Music Enterprises has scheduled a Jan. 24 release for "NOW That's What I Call Music! #1's." The collection will feature 20 chart-topping hits that have appeared on the 20-volume "NOW That's What I Call Music!" hits-compilation series, which dates back to 1997.
Among the tracks that will appear on "NOW #1's" are Nelly's "Hot in Herre," Outkast's "Hey Ya!," Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl," 'NSync's "Bye Bye Bye," Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time," Creed's "With Arms Wide Open," Lenny Kravitz's "Again" and Destiny's Child's "Survivor."
