Dream Theater marks 20th anniversary with special shows
Prog-metal rockers Dream Theater will celebrate their 20th anniversary with a series of shows in March, leading up to a grand finale in New York's Radio City Music Hall on April Fool's Day.
The band will hit several Central American cities before venturing back to North America for its series of concerts in the "An Evening With" format, meaning Dream Theater will play two sets at each tour stop with an intermission and no opening band.
The band's full itinerary can be found at its website.
Dream Theater's most recent album, "Octavarium," was released in June of last year. The band's eighth studio album, it followed 2003's "Train of Thought." Guitarist John Petrucci and drummer Mike Portnoy handled the production duties on both discs.
"I think maybe that's probably been the secret to our longevity, is that we've never fit in," Portnoy said in the band's bio. "But it's still incredible that here we are, 20 years later, and we're not one of those bands that's just sticking around on the downslide. We're still growing and progressing with each album and tour."
Formed in 1986, the band had a minor mainstream hit in1992 with the single "Pull Me Under."
