David Bowie To Play First Show Of New Millenium
David Bowie will play a show billed as "the first official concert of the new millenium" in Gisborne, New Zealand. Gisborne, on the east coast of the country and tucked into a point on the International Date Line that bends around New Zealand and Fiji, calls itself the first city on the planet to see the sun rise each day. Situated there, Bowie will take the stage at 12:01 a.m. on New Year's Day, 2000.
According to a CNN report, Bowie will write a song especially for the occasion. New Zealand band Split Enz will re-form for only the second time since 1984 to perform at the show, according to the report.
