Rob Zombie rises again with new album, tour
Rob Zombie is gearing up for the release of his first album of all-new material in almost five years, and will launch a headlining tour shortly before the disc lands in stores.
The outing kicks off March 16 in Jacksonville, FL, and is so far scheduled to run until at least early May, as outlined in the itinerary included below. The run includes a two-night stand in New York City, the first night of which coincides with the March 28 release of Zombie's forthcoming album.
Titled "Educated Horses," the set is the follow-up to 2001's "The Sinister Urge." In the interim, Zombie released his debut horror film, 2003's "House of 1,000 Corpses," and last year's sequel, "The Devil's Rejects."
Backing Zombie on stage will be guitarist John 5, bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson and drummer Tommy Clufetos, a lineup Zombie assembled for last year's Ozzfest tour. He recruited the trio after work on "Educated Horses" was well underway.
"None of the new guys in the new band are on it because I hadn't actually worked with them yet," Zombie said during an interview with liveDaily last August. "But we're not completely done. We probably will [have some of the new band members on the album]. Wes Borland from Limp Bizkit played guitar. Tommy Lee played drums. Josh Freese from A Perfect Circle played the drums."
Zombie has tapped Italian goth-rock outfit Lacuna Coil and British rockers Bullet for My Valentine to support him on his upcoming tour.
