Beth Orton sketches out tour in support of new album
British songstress Beth Orton has lined up a club tour in support of her new album, "Comfort of Strangers," which is due to hit stores Feb. 7.
Orton will kick off her 20-city excursion with a March 12 show in Washington, DC. The outing includes stops in major cities across North America, and also features a March 15 appearance at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, TX.
The 14-track "Comfort of Strangers" was recorded in two weeks in the spring of 2005 at New York's Sear Sound studio, with musician and composer Jim O'Rourke (Wilco, Stereolab) as producer.
"Comfort of Strangers" features Orton on vocals, guitar, piano and harmonica, as well as O'Rourke on bass, piano and marimba, and Tim Barnes on drums. Her fourth studio album, it follows 2002's "Daybreaker."
A streaming preview of the first single from the album, "Concieved," is available at Orton's record label website.
