Black Eyed Peas-led Civic Tour itinerary surfaces
Dates are in place for the 2006 Honda Civic Tour , an outing that will feature headliners The Black Eyed Peas and show-openers The Pussycat Dolls .
The trek kicks off March 23 in Fresno, CA, and will touch down in 34 cities by the time it wraps up in Denver on May 21. Details are shown below.
"We are excited to be going out on the Honda Civic Tour because it allows us to keep the ticket at a low price so that kids can come out and see us play and not have to worry about breaking their backs to pay for a ticket," Black Eyed Peas MC Will.I.Am said in a statement.
Tickets--prices for which have not been announced--will hit the box office President's Day weekend (Feb. 17-20), according to a press release. Specific on-sale dates for each market will be unveiled soon.
As part of the partnership between The Black Eyed Peas and Honda, the group designed special custom features for a Civic Hybrid that will be displayed at each stop on the tour. Customized features include metallic paint designs, Black Eyed Peas graphics and band-member autographs, a custom embroidered leather interior and a Honda Civic Tour Black Eyed Peas PA system, according to a press release.
Fans will have an opportunity to win the auto, according to organizers. More information is posted at the tour's website.
The Civic Hybrid can get up to 50 miles per gallon, according to Honda.
The Black Eyed Peas continue to back their latest album, "Monkey Business," which landed in stores last summer and debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart. The set helped the group snag Grammy nominations in four categories: Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal ("Don't Lie"), Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals ("Gone Going"), Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group ("Don't Phunk with My Heart") and Best Rap Song ("Don't Phunk with My Heart").
The Grammys will be handed out during a Feb. 8 ceremony at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and will air live on CBS-TV.
The Pussycat Dolls are hitting the road behind their debut set, "PCD," which surfaced last September.
Additional support acts for the Honda Civic Tour will be announced, according to organizers.
