Josh Rouse schedules tour around album release
Singer/songwriter Josh Rouse will release his new album, "Subtitulo," in the middle of a stretch of North American dates in April.
Rouse will kick off his upcoming road stretch with an April 1 engagement in Atlanta, then criss-cross the continent throughout the month. The new album will hit stores April 20, an off day for Rouse between his Seattle and Los Angeles shows.
Rouse recorded "Subtitlo" after his recent move to Spain, which the singer says was a major influence on the themes and sounds on the new record.
“I was ready for a change and was thinking about going to New York," Rouse said in a press release. "I was dating a girl that lived in Spain and she wanted to move to New York as well… but instead, I packed a guitar and 2 big suitcases and rented an apartment on the Spanish Mediterranean coast. I've been here ever since."
The album was recorded last August at Paco Loco Studios in Puerto de Santa Maria in the south of Spain, using a much smaller crew than Rouse, who based himself in Nashville for his last album, was used to having around.
"This record is more of a nylon string guitar and voice album," explained Rouse. "Marc Pisapia was with us in Spain to play drums and Brad Jones produced the album and played bass and piano."
The video for the album's first single, "Quiet Town," can be viewed at Rouse's website.
"Subtitlo" is Rouse's seventh studio album, and first for the Nettwerk label. His debut album, "Dressed Up Like Nebraska," was released in 1998.
