Hank III's tour goes 'Straight to Hell'
Hank Williams III , whose new album hits stores next week, will back the set during a late-winter/early spring roadtrip that kicks off next month.
The run gets underway March 12 in Longview, TX, and is so far scheduled to make stops in 22 cities by early April. Details are included below.
Williams has tapped Bob Wayne and The Outlaw Carnies to open all of the upcoming shows, according to Williams' website.
Fans planning to hit one of the shows are likely in for a long night; Williams is known for three-hour live performances that begin with an hour-long set of his hardcore punk songs.
On Feb. 28, Williams issues "Straight to Hell," a do-it-yourself, two-CD album dubbed that he recorded on a $400 Korg D-1600 digital recorder for next to nothing, according to a press release.
Williams, in a recent press release, described the discs by saying "one's done right, the other's done wrong," One disc features "super pickers, the ones I can't afford to take on the road," while the other is "just us--me and my road band--living it up, doing everything you're not supposed to do and having fun."
The stripped-down second disc contains several songs on a single track, including the Hank Williams cover "I Could Never Be Ashamed of You," which marks the first time Hank III has recorded one of his grandfather's songs.
Though rooted in traditional country, Williams often integrates punk and metal into his music.
