Rhett Miller gears up for new album, maps tour
The Texas singer will kick off his tour March 14 in Toronto before darting south of the border for an initial series of shows in the Pacific Northwest. Miller will finish up his run with a handful of dates scattered across the country before ending his five-week stint April 22 show in Madison, WI.
Miller's itinerary includes a March 17 appearance in Austin, TX, as part of the South by Southwest music festival.
"The Believer," Miller's second solo album--and first for his new label, Verve Forecast--is set to hit stores Feb. 28,.
The album was produced by George Drakoulias (The Black Crowes, The Jayhawks), and features a slew of studio vets to firm up Miller's sound, including Lyle Workman (Beck, Sheryl Crow) and Matt Chamberlain (Pearl Jam, David Bowie). Gary Louris of The Jayhawks contributed backing vocals to several of the album's tracks.
Miller's first solo album, "The Instigator," was released in 2002.
The Old 97's released a live album, "Alive & Wired," last September. The band's last studio album was 2004's "Drag It Up."
