Michael Stipe, Bright Eyes headline Concert for Peace

R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe and Bright Eyes will headline the March 20 "Bring 'Em Home Now" Concert for Peace at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom.

The show, a benefit concert for Veterans for Peace and Iraq Veterans Against the War, will also include Rufus Wainwright , Fischerspooner , Peaches , Devendra Banhart and Steve Earle.

Peace activist Cindy Sheehan and Public Enemy frontman Chuck D. will also make guest appearances; additionally, the Air America Radio show "The Majority Report," hosted by Janeane Garafalo and Sam Seder, will broadcast live from the venue and feature interviews with performers.

After the concert, Sheehan and "a host of noted authors" (according to the event's press release) will embark on a speaking tour, visiting fifteen U.S. cities in April.

Stipe and R.E.M. most recently released "Up Around the Sun" in 2004, the band's third effort since the departure of founding drummer Bill Berry in 1997. Bright Eyes' fifth studio album, "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning," hit stores in early 2005.
