British pop star George Michael , 42, was arrested Sunday (2/26) in central London on suspicion of drug possession.

According to British news reports, Michael was discovered by police investigating a report of a man slumped over the steering wheel of a car, and was subsequently charged with possession of class C drugs (which, under British law, includes drugs like marijuana and tranquilizers, as well as certain painkillers).

"It's my own stupid fault, as usual," Michael said in a statement issued Monday (2/27). "I was in possession of class C drugs, which is an offense, and I have no complaints about the police, who were professional throughout."
