Nine Inch Nails postpone another show, tip summer tour

February 28, 2006 02:37 PM
Nine Inch Nails have scrapped their second show in as many days while bandleader Trent Reznor tries to bounce back from an unspecified illness.

Tuesday (2/28) night's planned concert in Portland, ME, is the latest victim of Reznor's ailment, and follows Monday's (2/27) postponement of NIN's show in Amherst, MA.

"I'm the sickest I've felt in a long time and there's no way I could've pulled off a show tonight," Reznor wrote in a message posted at NIN's website on Monday. "Please know I hate to do this, sorry for the inconvenience."

As previously reported, the Amherst date has already been rescheduled for March 10, but a make-up date for the Portland show is still pending. According to a message posted at the band's website, the Portland make-up date will take place during the group's "upcoming summer tour."

Members of NIN's fanclub, The Spiral, reportedly were told during a recent members-only online chat that NIN plans to tour amphitheaters in major US markets this summer. No dates have been announced, but the group is confirmed to perform at the May 25 Sasquatch! festival.

NIN has been on the road since last spring in support of its May 2005 release, "With Teeth," which features the singles "Only," "Every Day Is Exactly the Same" and "Hand That Feeds." The latter track was nominated for a Grammy in this year's Best Hard Rock Performance category, the trophy for which went to System of a Down for its song "B.Y.O.B."
On April 4, NIN will issue an "Every Day Is Exactly the Same" EP that will include remixes by Interpol, DFA, Photek, EL-P and Richard X. The cover art and track listing are posted at NIN's website.
"With Teeth"--NIN's first new studio set since 1999's "The Fragile"--debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart.
