Ricky Martin Adds Eleven Stops To U.S. Tour

Eleven new shows at major arenas have been tacked onto Ricky Martin 's upcoming U.S. tour, expanding its reach well beyond cities with well-established Hispanic audiences. Martin will now make previously-unscheduled stops in Las Vegas, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, Denver, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Cincinnati and Cleveland, his record company announced Thursday.

In addition, Martin has added second shows in Miami and San Jose. Each of the dates initially announced for Martin's tour sold out within an hour of going on sale, according to C2/Columbia Records. On sale dates for the new shows haven't been announced.

The tour as it previously stood would have concluded at San Jose Arena on Nov. 21. The addition of the new dates stretches Martin's trek through Dec. 6.

Driven by the single ''Livin' La Vida Loca,'' Martin's first English-language album, ''Ricky Martin,'' has sold 10 million copies worldwide. ``Livin' La Vida Loca'' achieved the highest No. 1 sales figures in Columbia Records history (more than 280,000 pieces) and has the fourth-highest No. 1 sales in the history of the Billboard Hot 100, according to the label.

Earlier this week, Ford announced that it has signed on to sponsor the tour. The agreement includes an option to feature Martin's image in up to three live commercials for the automaker's new Ford Focus small car, which will be introduced in the U.S. this fall. In addition, a small number of prime tickets for the concerts will be available exclusively through Ford dealerships in selected cities. Also, five winners of a national Ford Focus sweepstakes will meet Martin backstage at one of his concerts.
