Dead Film, 60's Photos Featured at McCartney Exhibition
A nine-minute film edited from Grateful Dead footage shot by Linda McCartney will be a featured in a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame exhibition of her work running through August 8th. The retrospective focuses on McCartney photography work from the 60's when she shot acts including the Dead, the Rolling Stones, the Who, the Doors, Jimi Hendrix, and the Beatles, among others. It was in the course of covering a Beatles event that the former Linda Eastman met her future husband, Paul McCartney .
A BBC documentary on Linda McCartney entitled ''Begind The Lens'' will be featured, as well as ''The Grateful Dead - A Photofilm from Paul McCartney.'' Paul edited the film from 1967-68 footage of the band shot by his wife, who died in April of 1998 from breast cancer.
A number of West Coast concert dates have been confirmed for various former members of the Grateful Dead.
Bob Weir's Ratdog will perform at a benefit for the Electronic Frontier Foundation on June 18th at San Francisco's Fillmore. The band will also take part in the Santa Cruz Solstice Musical Festival on June 20th.
Mickey Hart and Planet Drum will play the House of Blues in Las Vegas on June 19th and at the Los Angeles-area House of Blues on June 20th.
Phil Lesh and Friends will perform June 4th and 5th at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco.
