INXS returns to Canada for 12-city tour

Reborn rockers INXS have announced a Canadian tour for this spring, their first extended visit to the homeland of the band's new singer, J.D. Fortune.

The Australia-based band--which has been touring to large crowds in North America the last few months, including three Canadian stops--will kick off their latest "homecoming" with a May 8 show in Moncton, New Brunswick.

The band will hit 12 cities on its Canadian tour, performing mostly in mid-size arenas.

INXS, which had been mostly on hiatus since the death of founding lead singer Michael Hutchence in 1997, chose Nova Scotia native Fortune last year out of thousands of applicants on the TV reality show "Rockstar: INXS" to become Hutchence's replacement.

INXS released, "Switch," its first studio album since 1997--and first featuring Fortune on vocals--last December.
