U2 postpones final dates of 'Vertigo' tour
U2 has postponed the remaining dates of their "Vertigo" tour due to an illness in an unspecified band member's family.
"It is with great regret that tour promoter The Next Adventure announces the postponement of the final ten dates of U2's Vertigo '06 tour," reads a statement posted at the band's website. "This action is unavoidable due to the illness of an immediate family member of one of the band.".
"Any fan of U2 will realise that this decision has not been taken lightly," TNA president Arthur Fogel added in a statement. "We will announce further details as soon as we have them."
The postponed dates span from a March 17 conert in Auckland, New Zealand, to the tour's April 8 finale at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. Details are included below
No information on ticket refunds was immediately available. Refund availability is generally defined when replacement dates are announced.
Family illness was noted in press reports as the probable reason for the month-long delay of the original launch of the "Vertigo" tour in March of 2005, though some industry sources cited tour-routing complications.
The tour played 90 shows in 2005, ranking as the highest grossing tour of the year, according to Billboard Boxscore.
The band announced late in the year that a brief final leg of dates would visit Mexico, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and wind up in Hawaii.
That leg kicked off February 12th in Monterrey, Mexico and continued through a March 2nd date in Buenos Aires, Argentina, before the decision was made to postpone the remaining dates.
